Magdalena Lis

Biography

I was born and grew up in a little city in Upper Silesia , Poland.

I’ve painted for as long as I can remember.

My first memory is of colors and textures of the ground on a warm, sunny spring day.

When I was 13 I decided I wanted to be a painter.

I found a teacher and two years later I passed the exams and was accepted into the High School of Arts.

I spent 5 years studying fine arts, as well as other subjects taught in a regular high school. After I graduated, I taught drawing and painting. I continued to take private lessons to prepare for entrance into the Fine Art Academy.

I also, worked in my own in my stained glass studio. I’ve designed and made many stained glass projects that are in private collections.

In 1994, I began my adventure with the study of traditional graphic and fine arts at the Fine Art Academy. That was a great time in my life. I explored and experimented with all graphic techniques, including lithography, serigraphy, woodcut, etchings, photography, graphic design, sculpture and of course painting and drawing.

In 1999 I came to Chicago where I have continued to paint and draw.

I also work as a porcelain. painter, muralist and as an assistant in the 4Art Gallery on South Halsted.
