For over ten years Jeff Abbey Maldonado has worked in his Pilsen Studio in the historic APO building. His solo exhibits include the Jan Cicero Gallery and the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum (MFACM).
In group and traveling form, his work has been shown in venues ranging from San Antonio to San Diego, from Ohio to Arizona, from Mexico to Turkey, from Paris to New York.
His commissions have come from the Chicago Historic Society, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MFACM, Delray Farms, Inc., and Cuervo Tequila International and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago.
Collaboratively, he has worked with 20 poets and writers and most recently with two dancers, a videographer and Spanish & Indian musicians for performances entitled "Unraveling Rhythms."
He was a featured artist for Chicago Artist Month, 2001 and sat on the advisory committee for Chicago Artist Month 2004. He has helped organize and coordinated the 18m St. Pilsen Open Studios for the last several years.
His work has been revied by Arizona State University, Museums Chicago and the Turkish Arts Magazine Akadamist.
He has been interviewed on the first episode of Arti3eat Chicago, Fox News in the Morning, Channel 7, Channel 2 and Channel 66 news.
Currently, he is preparing for several solo exhibits at Prospectus Gallery in June, 2006. Trickster Gallery, Schaumberg, July, 2006, Oaxaca, Mexico and Blake Palmer Gallery in October.
